Label: SER show review.
By the way, Happy Fourth of July to our readers. What a great and historic holiday. The concept of freedom hopefully will never die.
In this installment I wanted to give a nod to the SER show we went to June 9. the show was well run and even though it was Friday, many people were in attendance. The group from Gadsden was there with their layout and quite a few others. The two that stand out in my mind were Country Roads and nanoTRAINS. You can see them at www.CountryRRoadsModular.com and www.nanotrains.com respectively. The first of the above had the most detailed layout I have seen in a long time. Plus, the equipment was the latest technology, plus the modular concept was extremely well designed and built. The member I spoke with said it was three years in construction! I could go on and on but see it for yourself on video at the website. The other surprise at the show was nanotrains. This display featured trains at one to one thousand scale! That's right, 1/1000! The smallest I was aware of was 1/400 by someone in Japan. The trains were complete trains moving around their respective layouts. Also, the display was attended by two lovely ladies. Another pleasant surprise. For some reason these shows are often operated by men. Go figure...  to all, use fireworks safety and not too much BBQ, omscaler

Label: Oops! I did it again!
Yes, I did it again. Now I have to confess. I wanted so badly to complete one of the new arrivals that I assembled it incorrectly. Then I took a picture. Then I uploaded it on the blog. Now the mistake is there for all to see. So much for enthusiasm. However, I did detect the error later and applied the correct parts. My challenge to the blog reading public is: can you spot the incorrect part(s) in the picture? If so, please list your results in the comment section of the blog. Now, a little more about the wood sheathed boxcar project. The organization that I used to produce these boxcars absolutely nailed the dimensions that I needed and now I can put together the superstructure of the boxcar quickly and accurately. Which leads us to the above boo-boo (I was going to say faux pau but I don't know how to spell it correctly :). ). What I am now doing is developing methods to do the same for the truck assembly. The trucks have around thirty-two parts some of which are 1/64th inch wide. Once we can streamline this we will be in tall cotton (a regional colloquial reference :) ). once again, an optimistic omscaler

Label: They're here!
That's right, they're here! Last Tuesday pm I picked up the very first order of the production run wood sheathed boxcars. They are fantastic! The reason I am writing about it a week later is that I needed time to evaluate the boxcars. Otherwise I would be telling about how they looked to the exclusion of other qualities. So, that is where we are. This upgrade will bring us to a new plateau at The Omega Scale Railway. To reiterate, our goal is to bring omega scale railroading to the world. New members of our family are as follows: GM&O 51015, GM&N 20141, GM&O 51017, GM&O 6170, SSW 37502, GM&O 6172, SEABOARD 15717, NH 61753, GM&N 20143, CB&Q 28001, MP 14915, GM&N 6094. We are delighted to have all these on the property (I.E. the assembly shop). These new arrivals have true to scale letters and numbers with one exception. We decided to use 12 inch instead of 9 inch letters and numbers for the benefit of the end user. The 9 inch graphics were very hard to see. The 12 inch size is in fact borderline but we want to stay as true to prototype as possible for the benefit of our collectors. More developments to follow. Omscaler
